Husky Verticutter Complete Assembly

Scarifiers are great for lawns with moss and weeds. The verticutter crawls along the dead weeds and moss detaching with tines and blades, which allows the healthy growth of grass to come through for the upcoming seasons. If your lawn has a lot of thatch and moss, then a verticutter is the way to go.

Scarifying should be performed one to two times a year as part of your lawn care maintenance program.

When to Scarify Your Lawn

Ideally where Verticuting should be carried out in spring but it is also effective if completed in autumn.

We recommend that Verticuting takes place ahead of other procedures, including top dressing, overseeding and applying fertiliser, for maximum effect.

However, if your lawn has been fertilised and top dressed before you verticutter, it could still be beneficial during good growing conditions in the summer, once the results of the other spring operations have taken effect. In this scenario, try to keep verticutter light.

Continue to mow on a regular basis both before and after Verticutter.

Encouraging growth after Verticuting

Once the space has been created around the base of the grass plants, the trick is to encourage the grass to fill the space. There are two important points to note here.

Firstly, do not verticuting too early in the spring. It is important that the grass is growing fairly well and that any space created is filled by desirable lawn grasses. If growth is slow, there is a higher risk that the gaps will be filled with unwanted weeds or weed-grasses.

Secondly, actively encourage grass growth after verticuting by overseeding and or fertilising. (These tips are from https://www.rolawn.co.uk/)
